Ipod touch connect w. Internet via USB?

I guess it's not possible to connect the Ipod Touch with Internet without Wifi connection.

I still don't have a wireless connection ... so I can only play and try some settings when I'm on the road and mostly the connection falls out ... so it's a bit of hassle always having to reconnect the wifi you slurp from someone else ... and in the meantime trying to get some action on the Ipod....

It would be nice to be able to try some stuff at home ... but I guess thats not an option ...

Thank you for your time

are you asking if you can get internet via USB on a computer with internet? If so, the answer is no. Unfortunately, the only way to have internet with the iPod Touch is to use Wi-Fi.

What's wrong with using the wifi on either your Macbook or your PowerBook?
You have those connected to the internet via ethernet, right?
Create a wifi network with either of those, and have at it.

System prefs -> Sharing.
Share the ethernet internet connection with users on the Airport.

See this -> Sharing your Internet connection

Also, any reason you still on 10.4.7 as shown in your signature?

Hi Chris,

You got me on a track here ... I can activate the Airport in ~SysPrefs ... but my cable connection is not allowing me to share ... I guess.... unless there are workarounds ... 🙂

169.254.84.125 IP address on the Ipod Touch ... and that's not a good sign ...

I have Internetaccess for 2 computers ... but the second one I use for my parallels connection ...

Thx for the tip anyway ...

After some internet search .. I found the solution and it works 🙂

go to this link

http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20070514152251515

follow steps 1 and 2 ( step 3 is for connection to Wii )

Put the Terminal result --> SERVER 195.xxx.xxx.x#xx DHCP/DNS

Put an optional password if you desire and .... you can use your Ipod Touch /Iphone without having a airport extreme unit ....

So finally I can practice/make some presets on Safari/Maps(Great app)/etc a bit on my Ipod Touch instead of trying to get on line somewhere on the road with no success....
