Audio sync drift - 44.1 to 48khz

Make sure the sequence audio setting is 48K, not 32K.

If the audio was not recorded with video or with a TC based audio recorder, the likelyhood of drifting is quite high.

Options -

• You can cut and shift the audio in segments as the drift becomes noticeable.
• You can use STP to RETIME the segment to something that stays in sync.

Don't just convert it, resample it.

Open the original 44.1k file in Soundtrack Pro.

Resample to 48k (I believe it's under the processes tab.

Save as a new file, make sure you're saving at 48k.

Should do the trick.

Apparently, there has recently been an H4 firmware update here which fixes this. There is no problem with your workflow, it's the H4's recording that is ****ered.

If there's a problem with the Zoom H4 unit, this may not solve it, but, in general, it will do the trick. I've had many multicam projects handed to me where they recorded the audio in 44.1, and resampling it has always done the trick, even over hour long clips.

30 minutes is not 30 minutes because the early TV guys needed time to move the electron beam from the lower right corner to the upper left corner for the next scan. You'd think when as we move to HD and have the opportunity to fix that issue, we would. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
