I am having the same issue and have not found a solution in these forums or anywhere else for that matter. My situation is compounded further by the fact that out of 5 users, only one is currently experiencing the problem. I have made sure that the User Profile Path is the same as the others, I even moved all of the accounts to a new share and they all worked perfectly for about a month. Now one account is back to having the issue.

Are we the only ones experiencing this problem? Or are we the only ones using Windows roaming profiles on Leopard Server?

Roaming profiles via Mac OSX Server are different from Roaming Profiles via Windows Server.

Some things you must do, to keep the profiles syncing... First understanding that an database (db) files will create issues. Windows does not do a good job of releasing / unlocking the files. This will show up in Thumbs.db and newly created Favorites located within the profile.

1. Disable thumbnail caching on the windows clients.
2. Disable web client services (optional).
3. Move any db,s (like ACT 2008) out of the profile.
3. Move Favorites out to the profile (we use teakUI to relocate it to c://)

On boot, the error that a roaming profile can't load, will also present (about 20 seconds) the path of the bad file.

Hope this helps.

I have the same issue and have not come to a resolution. Roaming profiles work great! Local profiles do not...

Anyone have an answer to this? This is what I have under the windows tab:

Local Stored Profile - DOES NOT WORK
C:\Documents and Settings\username
LOGIN_SCRIPT.bat
C Drive
C:\Documents and Settings\username

Mobile Stored Profile - WORKS!
\\servername\Win_Profiles\username
SBS LOGINSCRIPT.bat
H Drive
\\servername\Win_Profiles\username

Is this wrong?

Hi rkovelman,

About the roaming profiles, why do you have the profiles and the homes in the same share? I have one called profil and one called homes - I was wondering if this gives me the problem where the user losses the profile on logon og logout.?

The user rights for the profil shared folder is, root "read write" staff "read write" others "none". On the homes shared folder I have the same settings as above, but also 5-6 groups is added to ACL, if I dont do this, the user cannot get permissions to open og read and write in her/his homefolder. Do I have to change this.?

Ok from what I gathered your win profiles must be separate from your Apple ones. But for those that want local profiles on Windows you have to do the following:

Local Stored Profile
\\servername\Win_Profiles\username
LOGIN_SCRIPT.bat
C Drive
C:\Documents and Settings\username

For mobile accounts
Mobile Stored Profile
\\servername\Win_Profiles\username
SBS LOGINSCRIPT.bat
H Drive
\\servername\Win_Profiles\username

Just remember it will sync the whole user account in the documents and settings. I have not found a way around this.

For your issue I am unsure of what you mean. Let me know that the mac profiles are separated from the Windows ones. Hence why I have Win_Profiles and Mac_Profiles.
