Can't publish (Error code = -50)

No matter how I try to publish, to itunes or anything, I get the following message:

"The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (Error code = -50)"

The only tip I have been able to find online says to go to the Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions. I have done this three times now, to no avail.

Any hints?

When you click iMovie/About, which version are you on?
Also, which version of Quicktime Player are you on?

Also, it is possible that your project file became corrupted somehow.
Can you create a new project with a couple of clips and see if that will work?

Are you the only user of your Mac? If not, we could explore the permissions thing some more.

Have you moved any event or project files using the finder?

You can also try trashing the plist file.

Hi, thanks for responding.

I have the iMovie 7.1.4 version and Quicktime 7.5.
I don't know that my project file could have become corrupted, but I am new to Mac.
I have tried creating new projects with the same and different clips, and get the same error message.
I am not the only user of this Mac.
I haven't moved any files using Finder.
What does it mean to trash the plist file?

One more thing, iMovie is supposed to save automatically, but even if I don't publish my project, when I come back, it is gone and I have to start over from scratch.

Thanks for your time.
