Is there a way to store and open a pdf file on the iphone other than as an email attachment?

Look at the FileMagnet application in the app store. It will let you move pdfs from your mac to the iphone. You can open the pdf in filemagnet and read it. It is a VERY bare bones viewer so large documents are probably not appropriate.
