Truncated Output!

I want to export my 20-minute movie as uncompressed 10-bit OR 8-bit, self-contained in order to create my master in DigiBeta or HD Cam. However, when I do so, and open the movie in Quicktime the output file is truncated!

I erased the render files and clear or the In and Out points but am still getting the same problem.

The original footage wash shot in HD DVCPRO at 720 P. I use Final Cut Studio v. 5.1.4

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Truncated...running time wise? Video cropped? What do you mean?

Is the hard drive you are exporting it to formatted properly? MacOS Extended is the proper format. FAT32 or other PC formats have file size limits.

I meant the movie ends at minute 15 or so (the last 5 minutes are missing). the footage and render files are in a 700 GB portable drive formatted as MacOS extended (Journaled), connected via USB 2

So you are exporting as QUicktime CONVERSION? I wouldn't do that. Either copy and paste your footage into an uncompressed timeline and render, then output. Or output your DVCPRO HD footage and take that to a facility that can output it to the tape format you need. The Kona 3 can upconvert/downconvert/cross convert to pretty much any format.

FYI, the format is called "DVCPRO HD," not HD DVCPRO. So when I say export as a Quicktime MOVIE, not Conversion, and use the sequence settings and make the movie self contained (all options you will be see), then you will have a single file that is your entire movie, in the exact same compression as all the footage you used to make it. ZERO quality loss.

Now, what do you need to do with this output? Get it to tape? Take to another editing system? what?

Yes, I want to get it to tape so several formats (DigiBeta and HDCam) in order to create my master (movie is finished and picture locked)

So if I understood correctly all I have to do is export as DVCPRO HD, self contained. The tape transfer shop should able able to take this format and create the tape master using this format

A post facility that has FCP and the Kona 3 card...yes. This is what I do. Work in DVCPRO HD...deliver HDCAM and digibeta to the network.

Do you have a very specific running time to hit? Because DVCPRO HD 720p 23.98 is a Non-drop frame format...most deliverables require drop frame timing. The descrepancy can be pretty big.

Not sure what you mean by "specific running time to hit"?

The movie is 20 minutes long and I have no specific requirements from the distributor other thaan delivering a DigiBeta master tape
