txt tone intermittantly not playing

I am also having this problem. I read somewhere else that it had to do with weather apps...

I'm having the same problem. Whenever the tone doesn't play on a text message, I reset the phone and usually goes away for a few days until it happens again as well. Hopefully there is an update that will fix that.

this is a common problem, some theories are that its caused by certain apps that somehow use text to gather info. I pulled every app off my phone and it still happened so your best bet is to just go to apples feedback page and submit a bug report.

the only time that I noticed that this happens is when I leave the text window open and get a new message.

I have found it only happens on the tri-tone. I was experiencing the same issue so I changed it to Horn and it has been fine so far. I don't have any extra apps installed

i always use chime and itn happens there too, i also tried tri tone and it happened with that too. It has to be a 2.x issue

I dont care if this thread gets erased for this but apple i know you read these forums and be on notice, alot of people are annoyed by this and i must say even a person like myself who doesnt have a degree knows nothing built can survive on a weak foundation and text is a foundation, when you fail so miserably at something so widely and constantly used you look simply moronic. When i noticed this i was more disappointed than anything. Being a lifetime windows user i was actually considering an apple for my next computer but if you cant nail something as commonplace as text sounds i dont know if i want to give you any more business
