Playing MP3 in GMAIL

If I send myself an MP3 file via Gmail, and then log into Gmail with Safari and then "touch" on the MP3 attachment link, Quicktime loads up and then I get a message saying "This movie could not be played."

How do I get the iPhone / QT to recognize this as a music file?

Thx!

Is the file downloading completely?
How does it look in the mail message? Is it showing it as an mp3 file?

I was able to send myself an mp3 file from Gmail to Gmail and play it on my iPhone.
I also tried sending from a non-Gmail account and it came through and played as well.

Both times, in the message it shows as a box with an arrow with the name of the xxxx.mp3 file.

Also does it happen both on EDGE and WIFI?
