Question

No sounds for 3rd party apps STRANGE

it happens to me the ipod Touch no longer plays sounds from third party apps when using earbuds

I've tried playing songs on the Music/video apps, headphones/speakers work well.
And then i tried Super Monkey Ball/Jared/Enigmo/Crash, speakers work but headphones don't.
And then i tried using another piece of headphone, and still, only music/video, not 3rd party apps.

I'm quite sure it's some software issues as both the headphones and built-in apps work.
Help please?

*note: i although using an ipod touch, sometimes see the rounded-square Volume bezel, i was wondering if something was to do with it. (and i really don't know why it sometimes pops up)

If you turn your "Sound Effects" off, Speaker or Headphones in Settings, it will affect on 3rd party Apps.

I found out that if I select only "Speaker" in Sound Effects settings, your BG musics in game will disappear.

If your set as "Headphones", your sound effects in game will gone.

Try to set back as "Both" and everything will be back.

I have exactly the same problem now... Music plays just fine, but as soon as I go into Tuner, or Monkeyball, or any other third party app there is no sound whatsoever.

Can't say I'm happy about this. I've tried restoring ipod to factory conditions and reloading stuff from local itunes backup but to no avail.

Somebody help me!!!

OK. I bit the bullet, restored my ipod touch, but didn't load up an old backup. Now everything works fine although I've lost all my links and set-up info. Luckily the applications were in iTunes on my computer so I've not lost them. But the settings are all gone 😟

So the problem seems to be a corrupt system, and the solution is to find a backup which isn't corrupt, or if there isn't one, start all over.

Help Apple please help!
the latest update i get for my iPod Touch doesn't fix this problem.

I really really really don't want to have a fresh copy and start from level one for every game for the mere enjoyment of playing games with sounds, yet lacking those seem to diminish the fun so much.

Apple please fix it.

Ok solution do a restore from Itunes this will fix the problem one thing it will erase all your songs videos and apps but the apps will restore from your itunes if you have it backed up there, It happen to me also with tap tap revolution and it got fix with I did a full restore.

My experience is that all your saved settings are contained within the last backup, and, if the backup is corrupt then there's no chance of retrieving your settings.

Yes, you can reinstall the applications from iTunes (assuming the apps are on your hard disk), but you lose all settings.

Yes i do have "Both" checked. But still doesn't work.

I'm sorry if i confuse you, what i mean by Speakers are those, plug-your-iPod-in loud speakers.

I have exactly the same problem! Mine started after the update to Version 2.0.1 on the iPod and I have deleted and reinstalled the applications with no success. Did you find a way to fix this??
