Mac Won't Show SD Card Reader in Finder

I am trying to transfer a file from my computer to my Blackberry via a USB SD Card Reader (model SD/MMC/RS-MMC). When I insert the micro SD card from my phone into the reader and then the reader into my computer, the light on the reader comes on to show that there's a connection, but I don't see the reader on the list of devices in the Finder.

Can anyone help me with this?

Is it possible that you have showing the item deselected in Finder preferences?

Go to Finder > Preferences, click on the "General" tab, and make sure "External disks" is selected.
