Firewire isight gives a grainy image. Is it normal?
Just purchased a used firewire isight not too long ago from ebay, and right now I'm a bit perplexed by the picture quality. The image is in focus, and the colors are vibrant, but I get this grainy image when the camera is focused on dark colors. It's not as bad as the grainy image that came with my old usb webcam but its not reassuring either. Is this normal? is my lighting just bad? or perhaps my expectations are just too high for a five year old camera.
The FW iSight likes a lot of light. You're probably seeing the auto-gain kicking in if the room has just so-so lighting. I would recommend installing
iGlasses (there's a free demo) and experimenting with the various brightness settings.
