The sender address was invalid

I got an iPod Touch since September 2007. No problem at all with the email account until the version 2 update software. I receive all my email on it but unable to send email, from gmail account, from my internet service provider email account etc... All email account I cannot send email.

Then I receive my new iPhone today, I was hoping not having the same problem. But I got the same problem, not able to send email. And I got this message: The sender address was invalid.

How can my address email can be invalid when it come from a reply or my address book.

Also the setting was not made by me, because my email account was sync from my powermac G5 and I can send email from my computer.

now I have two mobile device that can't send any email.

Any idea???

I upgrade to 2.0.1 the iPhone and can't send email again

Gilles Savard1,

Does this happen to every address you try to send email to? Does it only happen when you reply, or also when you type out the address manually, not allowing the auto-fill function to complete the address for you? Typically, this error indicates the email address is in fact not valid.

If these suggestions don't help, some general troubleshooting steps such as resetting all settings or restoring the iPhone and setting it up as a new phone may be useful. More information on a restore can be found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414.

Hope this helps,

Raleigh

Now I see another problem with receiving email. I send 5 email with the subject test1, test2 etc...

I receive test2 and test4 but test3 and test5 does'nt come in. but when I click on the iPhone to retrieve the email I alway's got the sound of an incoming email but nothing appear. Very weird. That's a new problem I never got with the iPod Touch.

It seems the version 2 of the mail.app have serious problem

Even if you have an SMTP server in Other Servers that can send your email, your primary SMTP server may not allow you to send unless you are directly connected to them (via WiFi).

There is a bug in the iPhone that when your primary SMTP server returns with an error message saying that the address is invalid, the iPhone doesn't try the other SMTP servers it just gives up.

The sender address was invalid
