Original Jawbone and iPhone 3G problems

I have been having problems getting the original Jawbone to reliably work with the 3G iPhone. Many times, the phone says it is paired and bluetooth is on, yet when I try to make or receive calls, the headset does not work at all nor does it even give the option of using headset despite the Jawbone blinking green and the phone showing paired. In fact, it works less than 5%. I have unpaired and re-paired the device multiple times without any improvement.

I have spoken with Jawbone tech support twice and learned that the 3G iPhone is not on the list of handsets that are approved to work with the Original Jawbone. Nor is the New Jawbone approved to work with iPhone 3G. Two Jawbone techs have told me that it has to do with the Original Jawbone not supporting Bluetooth 2.0 and having problems with iPhones 1.2 version.

If you are lucky enough to get the Jawbone to reliably work with the iPhone, I would appreciate any advice. Jawbone can not help at all other than to suggest I buy a new jawbone and hope it works better since it runs on Bluetooth 2.0.

Thanks
