Artist List not showing Artist

Artist List not showing Artist

I have downloaded all my songs from itunes to my new 80GB ipod but some of the artists names do not appear in the artist section when i scroll through? The songs/albums however are there and i can listen to them but i can not access them via the artist list? Can anyone advise on this? Is it a common thing?

Classic 80GB, Windows XP

The 'missing artists' are on albums that are tagged as "Part of a Compilation", and you must have the Compilations setting turned ON on your iPod. If these albums are not compilations (a collection of songs by various artists) then change all songs on the album by un-checking that option in their tags. If these albums are truly compilations, then you might try turning OFF the Compilation setting on your iPod -- Settings/Main Menu, then un-check Compilations. Do the same for Settings/Music Menu.
