Panel type for 23" cinema display

I just called Apple sales and Apple support to find out what panel type are being used in the 23" Cinema display and they were not able to find the information for me.
Does anyone know if they use a S-IPS, H-IPS, PVA or TN panel type?
I do not find it very helpful reading all the rumors on this information and wish to see it listed from Apple or a direct number at Apple I can call to get the real information. So far two calls to Apple and all I have found out is that they do not have this panel type information.
Thanks!

The pre 2006 Cinema Displays used S-IPS.
All information available states that current Cinema Display models use H-IPS.

Cinema Displays within the production period, and with the specifications listed on This Page are S-IPS panels.

The newer displays, with These specifications use H-IPS.

Really Apple should list this information or at least have people who are answering questions on their my apple number could know about panel type.

Most don't even know that the displays were updated in late 2006. This update came from the use of the H-IPS panel.

Thanks for the info. Just curious: do you think it's too much to ask to see Apple list this information?
It seems slightly deceptive that Apple does not list this information in any of their formal specs. All other information is basically hear say at this point. I've called now more then a couple of times and still in shock that you can not get a single person on the phone from Apple that has this information or even knows what panel type refers to. "um... they are LCD, um... let me check with someone else... can you hold... yes they are LCD active-matrix liquid crystal display" ha ha ha.
-> In contrast: I emailed NEC about their monitors and they were able to email me back with every panel type for all of the displays they sell.
Apple needs to step it up and claim it for real. If their panels are H-IPS they would be one of the better deals on the market... that fact alone would make me think Apple should be able to officially share with the panel type with consumers.

Hi kj8-

I tend to agree with you.
Spec's make a difference to many people, yet Apple is relatively "secretive" about much of their hardware and software. It definitely takes some effort to find information, and even more effort to verify.

But, whatever they decide, is not for us to second guess. I 'spose they want people to take it for fact that the products are the best (or at least top class) regardless of specs....... though the full story may actually turn some more customers this way.
