Hey guys. I just wanted to know how you can make a smooth pitch bend using automation. Whenever you try to lower/raise the pitch by a number of semitones, it only changes rigidly, going straight up or down to the next pitch. This works fine in Garageband, but I can't get it to work in logic. Any help would be appreciated.
As the mixer does not control pitch, then you need to find a plugin solution. Generally speaking, plugin pitch shifters are naff. What I'd recommend is to put your audio in a sampler (eg the EXS24) and just use MIDI pitchbend to bend your audio on the fly.
So, is it even possible through a plugin? Because i don't really have a pitch bend wheel on my keyboard. even though it has over 700 instruments and 100 effects, for some reason it doesn't have a pitch bend wheel! I also prefer more precise pitch bending that I can fine tune. So, again, is it possible another way?
You should use the exs as beejay mentioned. And you can create pitch bend data by:
: Drawing the data in a midi-region controlling the exs. Select hyper-draw/pitch bend and use the pencil tool.
: Using any other controller of your keyboard and transform the signal to pitch bend data (transformer object/envinronment)
: programming any other controller on your keyboard to send pitch bend data to the exs.
: creating an environment controller that sends pitch bend data to the exs
