getting pics off a dvd slideshow

long story short version, I lost all my pics from pre 2007. The only thing I have that still has them is a one dvd and one cd-r of slideshows I made a long time ago. Can I get the pics back off these disks and get them back into my iphoto library somehow?

MBP 2.4 duo, 4gb, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

If I remember right the dvd was made with idvd, I can't remember how the cd was made though. This was all done on my old computer which is now gone. I did have a backup of my old machine with the pre 2007 photos on an external hard drive which was erased and used for something else by mistake. My current computer only has photos from jan 07 to current.

Any chance that file salvage - http://subrosasoft.com/OSXSoftware/index.php?mainpage=product_info&productsid=1 - could recover some (or possibly all) of them?

Yep - not likely (in fact downright unlikely 😟

I do not know how you would get photos off of an iDVD disk or from a slide show - Old Toads may - but they will not be full resolution photos even if you can

1 - possibly if you would tell more about how you lost them there is an alternative

2 - how did you make the DVD?

3 - How did you make the CD of the slide show?

I don't have high hopes of that. THe drive was zeroed out and has since been re written with different data.
