Most likely, something went wrong during the software update. If you connect the iPod to the computer, does it show up in iTunes?

If yes, then a restore is probably the easiest and the best way to reset your iPod and fix this bug.

If it does not, put the iPod into DFU mode. First, connect the iPod to the computer. Turn the iPod fully off, then hold the power and center button for exactly 10 seconds. Then, release the power button, keeping the center button pressed. If you do it right, NOTHING will be on the Touch's screen, and iTunes will tell you it sees an iPod that must be restored. Hit restore, and that should fix it.

    Hope this helps,

Hi. Ipod does not show up in itunes. i tried what you suggested but ipod is still not showing up in itunes. Where does it say that there is an ipod that needs restored?

Hi. I got it sorted. I did what you suggested then uninstalled everything to do with itunes, then reinstalled. Was then able to restore.

    Thanks for your help

If you restore it, does it delete all of the songs on the Ipod?

Yes, a Restore deletes all the Songs, Videos, Photos, Podcasts etc and puts it back to Factory Defaults. All settings will be lost.
