Cannot connect to Airport Express

I just purchased and airport Express. I am trying to get started with Airport Utility. My MacMini recognizes the device but will not connect to it. it says "an error occurred, please close the configuration window and try again." How do I do this? I have the Airport Express connected to a Clearwire modem via ethernet. Can anyone help me?

MacMini intel 1.66, Mac OS X (10.4.11), 2GB ram
