Hi,

Yes. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1274

Scroll down to Resetting the original administrator account password. It involves inserting your Mac OS X CD.

I just tried it, had same error message. Perhaps there is a variable that must be changed? hmm. Here is an easier way to get access if you know your old username

It's a lot easier than that if you know the user name!

1. Reboot

2. Hold apple + s down after you hear the chime.

3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to set your password
mount -uw /
passwd username

You will be asked to enter and confirm a new password.

4. Reboot, and login. You may need to reset your keychain, but apart from that, you are good to go.

I got my user and everything now thanks jmvp. But when i enter in passwd *my user* all i get is

usage: passwd [-i infosystem] [-l location] [name]
suspported infosystems are:
netinfo
file
nis
opendirectory
for netinfo, location may be a domain name or server/tag
for file, location may be a file name (/etc/master.passwd is the default)
for nis location may be a NIS domainname
for opendirectory, location may be a directory node name
localhost:/ root#

Does the user name you tried contain space or other characters other than letters and numbers? You'll need to escape (use a forward slash in front of) any spaces in the username, otherwise you get the Unix man page reminder on the syntax for using passwd.

Your profile shows OS X 10.0.x; do you remember the actual OS X version number?
