2.0.1 Update, official or Unofficial.

Hi all, I updated to the new iPhone 2.0.1 software as soon as it was released and my iPhone is a little better. The keyboard still lags slightly on SMS but only occasionally and the contacts are still sluggish at first and then they scroll quite well after. The update itself though, is it an official one that we should all be downloading and using? its not as if Apple have advertised it in a big way and with the feedback i've read so far on these boards its made some iPhones worse or there's been no change at all. Don't get me wrong I love Apple and my iphone 3G is the Mutts Nuts but i thought apple released software and updates that were tried and tested before release which makes me wonder if there's another one coming and the one we all have (2.0.1) is not really for general release. Fingers crossed.

The iPhone is checked for an available update via iTunes automatically when connected every week I believe.

Regardless, when provided via iTunes it can't be anything but official.

Apple usually doesn't have a media event or big announcement around the release of OS X updates, security updates, Apple software updates, and the same for iPhone firmware updates. OS X includes an automatic check for available updates, as do most Apple applications including iTunes and iTunes automatically checking for iPod and iPhone updates on a designated schedule when an iPod or iPhone are connected.
