Restore Ipod fifth Generation without using Itunes

You can't restore an iPod without iTunes. I use a number of different iPods with one library, the firmware fore each one is unique and iTunes will recognise whichever iPod is connected, it will load the correct firmware for each one.

something weird is happening to my ipod i was listening to it and it froze earlier yesterday but i got it working then later yesterday it just turned off and its been plugged into the wall for about 12 hours and still i cant get it to turn on (and no the hold button isnt on)
