How do I get Sony Micro MV video onto my Macbook Pro?
I have had the video camera a long time, and the computer is new. I am not very good at this type of thing and am looking for the easiest solution. I have read other peoples thoughts and am unclear as to their outcomes. Has anyone actually succeeded at this task and if so how? Thanks very much for your thoughts. I also have a PC if that helps.
Does the camera have a Firewire (aka iLink, DV) port? If so, connect the camera to your Mac via Firewire and then see if FCP, FCE or iMovie will recognize the camera.
It can convert the Mpeg files to DV although PC based. You can then take the converted files to your your Mac.
Convert to DV Stream (imovie) or QuickTime for Final Cut.
Another method would be to play the Micro MV tape to an Analogue to Digital converter (most mini DV cameras can Pass Through a signal) connected to your Mac.
