Help Itunes keeps asking to restore and phone has been restored

Hi All,
First my Iphone's screen was blank so I did a restore to factory settings. Then I selected under I tunes restore the my Iphone settings. This seems to work but then it keeps asking me what I want to do new phone or update using original settings. My phone is working with my mail etc but can not sync Itunes. All of my apps from the app store are on my phone too; just no pictures or music (only pictures taken on the phone.) I have reinstalled Itunes and restarted my Iphone. Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks

I think you can mark this thread as "answered".

I had the same problem after picking up a replacement 4Gb iPhone from the Apple store last night. When I returned home and plugged in the iPhone it downloaded the 2.0.2 update and applied it prior to the first or two painfully slow restores on my G4. When the iPhone came back to life after the Restore I had the same situation you described, apps and data restored but no music and only the "Set up new iphone" or restore from backup option when the iPhone appeared in iTunes. Thinking I had done something wrong I told it to Restore the from backup again. Two hours later, same results.

So I was pleased to see your message on the discussion board and possible solution. I couldn't wait to get home from work to try it. Well, selecting "Set up as new" fixed it. My iPhone appeared as normal in iTunes and I'm syncing my music as I type.

Thanks!

I have had this problem now twice. First time went through Apple Support and fixed the problem. Now a few weeks later, same problem. Has anyone else gone this this more than once. I'm wondering if this is a software problem or hardware since it happened a 2nd time now, after I upgraded to the latest firmware a couple of days ago.

I had the very same issue!

I restored my iPhone but it stayed on that screen even when I ejected it and tried to re-sync it!

In the end I help my breath and pressed install as NEW iPhone. Only then did it add my photos and my music!

I dont think its a fault but I dont think its made particularly clear!
