IPhone 3G - Will not charge

Hello:

I noticed on Friday that my IPhone wasn't charging when it was in my ipod dock (as it had been before). I tried using the wall charger, and charging from my PC but neither worked. I then reset the phone and tried again and it worked. However, I went away for the weekend (taking the wall charger) and the phone wouldn't charge again. Now I've got home and the phone is completely flat. The screen is blank until I hold the sleep button. Then the screen comes on and shows a big battery with a small red bit flashing. Under the battery there's the plug and recharge flash symbols.

Anyone got any ideas? I'm thinking maybe a trip back to the O2 shop is required 😟

I just had the same problem starting today.. Plug phone into USB Cable as per usual, it Syncs, Battery Level Icon is replaced with Batt Charging Icon, but the big Battery Symbol stays at a small sliver of red. Somebody better come up with an answer for this! This is not a "small glitch" you can live with!

BTW: You said you "reset" the phone and it worked again.. Does that remove ALL my songs / settings / email / etc?

Hi:

No, that didn't remove all my songs, apps, etc. But my phone is so flat now that I can't even reset it so I'm stuck!!

I'm going to go back to the O2 store at lunch and see what they suggest...

I'm going to see an Apple "Genius" on Thursday so I'll post what they tell me, in the hope that it helps anyone else experiencing these problems!

I just encountered this same issue. I saw low battery yesterday so I plugged it in using a wall adapter and during a phone conversation the phone died. I charged it all night and this morning I get that same little red sliver on the battery when it turns on at all and a lightning bolt. It will not charge up. If anyone hears how to handle please post.

I've just visited the Apple Genius, who told me that my battery has gone! Now I've got to queue up again for a replacement!!

I am also having the same problem.

My phone showed full battery for most of the day today. I thought this was odd as it was a fairly normal day and the battery is typically around 25% by the time I get home.

I picked up my phone this evening to make a call and it went dead. I tried plugging it in to the wall adapter and it just continues to show the large battery with a small red sliver of power. It has been charging now for several hours and does not seem to be receiving/holding the charge.

Any suggestions?

I kept turning it off and on and finaly an apple came up then it started charging. Also connected and unconcted the conector a few times. Not really sure what it is, the phone or the conector. I am using the griffin connector.
