Syncing a Verizon Email account to my I Phone

I did a sync of my email accounts (3)

Gmail - fine
Optimum - fine
Verizon - cannot get mail.

If I go into the mail prefs on my Powerbook everything is exactly the same the authentication in the server settings says none. But on my IPhone there isn't a none option in the advanced settings. Only NDS challenge / NTLM and password. I tried all of these and I still can't get my mail from verizon.

anybody?

Try deleting your Verizon account on your iPhone and manually entering the account.

If this is successful, be sure to deselect your Verizon account settings from being transferred to your iPhone for your iPhone sync preferences or any changes will be overwritten. All accounts can be deselected after doing so since this is no longer needed after account information is successfully transferred to an iPhone.

I tried to delete and manually add and I still cannot get or send mail from this account.

ralphiedee,

No password for sending will only work when connected directly to Verizon, such as on your WiFi connection at home connected to Verizon.

If you want the "None" option for sending, leave the username and password for the SMTP server empty or blank.

However, when you are connected to cellular data with AT&T, or connected to a WiFi Hotspot that isn't using Verizon for a connection you won't be able to send out. Some email servers will not relay even with a username and password if you are not connected to them, and I am not certain how Verizon's servers are configured.
