HP Deskjet F380

Can anyone tell me what driver to used with this printer? It does not show up in the list that comes up when I try to select a driver for it.

Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Same frustrating issue for me. I was able to print from my MacBook when I plugged the USB right into the macbook, but I had our iMac on another desk, wanted to be able to print from 2 macbooks and an iMac, etc... I got an airport express and could use internet fine, but got your error message when I tried to print. Downloaded new drivers, nothing worked.

Finally I just selected the driver for the HP Deskjet F2100 series and it printed fine. I later selected the driver for the HP Deskjet F4100 series (thinking it to be more advanced?) and that worked as well. I'm printing wirelessly and loving life.

Good luck!

My HP Deskjet F380 ist connected to a Windows XP PC. I try to connect to it on my new MacBook via the network and everything seems to work fine. The printer is listed in the "Windows"-section of the "Add printer"-dialog.

But when it gets to selecting a driver, the Deskjet F380 isn't listed. I already tried the drivers for the F2100 and the F4100, but they don't work. I also downloaded and installed the driver from hp.com, but that didn't help either. Where do I get the driver from?

Did this issue get solved? I'm having the same problem - no driver visible for HP Deskjet F380 All-In-One. Latest Apple driver updates http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1370#hpdrivers show Driver v.4.0.1 is included but have downloaded and installed but the driver still doesn't appear. Could see a Gimp version on the Gutenprint link.

Any ideas appreciated.

I have the same issue, and I believe it's related to the fact that the HP F300 series driver in HP Print Driver Update 1.1.1 is not a "modern" driver (PPD file, whatever that means). See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1893 and review the first note. It states that "Drivers that are not denoted as Modern Drivers cannot be selected when adding an IP printer or Windows shared printer." Then page down to the Deskjet F300 Series entry and note that the Modern Driver column is not checked. I suspect the printer connection over Airport looks like an IP Printer.

I also tried the F2100 and got my printing to work, although it doesn't seem to print colors, and I can't get an ink level readout.

Are these drivers supplied by HP, or does Apple develop them? Anyone know?
