All sorts of data issues

Regardless of weather im on 3G, Edge, or Wi-Fi, the data is terrible if it connects at all. I've done side by side comparisons with the exact same model iphone, with say tapping the app store button. The comparison phone loaded the app store and started downloading an app, before my phone would even load the App store. Safari is even worse.

i also have a strange issue with my email, where even though i have it set to manual fetching of data, if i just go to my mail icon, it starts to download. Often times, if will just attempt to connect, not retrieving any mail, and just wont stop. I'll have to turn my phone off to get it to stop trying to retrieve new mail. If i dont, it just kills my battery, sometimes depleting half the battery in an hour. Occasionally the mail works no problem, but the norm is that it wont connect. I have two pop accounts set up.

has anyone had similar problems. My inclination is that there's an issue with the phone.

Yep, Exact same problem here. The constantly spinning spinner while on the mail application is a certain indication that I am having data issues. Once I see this I know that other applications that use data (such as Pandora, etc.) will not function correctly if at all. I recently upgraded to 2.0.2 but I believe this was happening even before the upgrade.

Now I'm not saying that the mail application constantly trying is causing the problem (but maybe it is) but more likely it seems like an overall data problem causing mail and other data using applications to no function properly.

I am finding myself in this situation more frequently lately, and it usually takes several reboots to correct.

UPDATE with some more info...

I hope some Apple support staff is reading this.

I hooked my iPhone up and viewed its console logs using the iPhone Configuration Utility while it was constantly spinning on mail and having data issues.

This is what was getting logged at the time. These messages were looping over and over. BTW, I was not on wireless but had a full signal with 3G when capturing these logs.

_*BIG NOTE HERE: THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY AS SOON AS I CONNECTED TO WIFI, BUT IMMEDIATELY RETURNED ONCE BACK ON 3G!*_
