Component AV cable

Will the Apple Component AV cable that supposedly can be used to connect an Iphone 3g to an HDTV be used (later) to connect the HDTV to Apple TV? It looks like there are no cables provided in the Apple TV box (except maybe for power) and one must purchase cables, depending on the connection desired. Since I'm already considering purchasing the Apple Component AV cable to extend my iphone to hdtv, it would be great if I could use this cable once I acquire an Apple TV. Thanks.
