Driver for HP DesignJet 500

The driver for the HP DesignJet 500 is in the library but will not appear on the driver add list. I am running 10.5.4 in a lab of Intel Imacs. Before upgrading to Leopard, there was no problem with the printer setup utility finding the driver. Two other printers have installed perfectly in 10.5.4. What do I have to do to get the machine to connect with the driver for the DeskJet 500? Thank you

Intel G5, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

I have a similar question if you don't mind me piggybacking on your post. I found this topic in the archives:

I downloaded the recommended driver and helper apps and was able to select the driver in the print que. However, when I pull up the print menu, there are no new choices available for paper size, layout, etc. as I would suspect for this printer.

Thanks for any help with this.

I'm having this same problem. I'm running 10.5.5, and I was surprised to see many DesignJets listed in the Printer Driver list box, but not the DesignJet 500. So I installed the 700MB+ of the extra HP printer drivers from my Leopard DVD, did an Apple Software Update, and rebooted for good measure. Still nothing.

I guess I'm just going to install the Windows driver in my Parallels environment for now, but are folks from Apple and/or HP working on this?
