One thing I use a lot in MS Word, is the synonym look-up. A right click (or control click) on a chosen word brings up a line for synonyms which when highlighted, quickly gives a list in that menu. Pages has under writing tools, a look up in the dictionary and Thesaurus which provides more detail, but no quick and nice list of synonyms or suggestion for other word choices. Am I missing something? Is there a way to put that functionality into that contextual menu?
I'd love a line leading to a list of synoyms, antyoynms, and a brief or quick dictionary.
Was there not a key combo in Tiger on a selected word that would pop open a brief dictionary window. I don't seem to have that anymore.
Thanks

Or simply right mouse button click on word +Contextual menu > Look up in Dictionary+
However the OP mentioned Tiger. I can't remember exactly what happened in Tiger, all I remember is that there are alot more choices of references in Leopard.
So there is no way to add a tool for synonyms?
How about a menu button?
Is there a way to Add Scripts to the menu bar?
Then is there a script for synonyms or other actions?
IS THERE a way to arrange or alter the contextual menu (right Click)
Getting to the dictionary requires going through writing tools which at that takes some time or reading to find a list of synonyms if there is even one there.
Web based synonym searches are pathetic compared to a good old Roget's (Third Edition has kept me going)

It seems that you missed that \[cmd + ;] and \[cmd + :] are shortcuts available for all of us.

In Pages, when I select a word and then press [cmd + ;] nothing happens. When I press [cmd + :] the spelling dialog opens. If the word is correctly spelled, no alternatives (synonyms) are displayed. If the word is misspelled, a list of possible alternatives (but not synonyms, since the original word isn't a recognized word) is displayed. Do either of the key combinations you suggested present a list of synonyms on your system, Yvan?
