Error when subscribing to a Google Calendar

I receive the following error from iCal when I attempt to subscribe to one of my public Google Calendars:

The user name or password of the proxy configuration is not correct.

Any idea how to overcome this error?

I am also having difficulty trying to subscribe to a Google calendar.

The first problem that I noticed today was that the Google calendar that I had already been subscribed to was no longer syncing with iCal tonight. New information had been placed on the Google calendar, and was no longer showing up in iCal. When hitting the refresh in iCal, an error message came up saying "No calendar was found on http://www.google.com/calendar/ical...gmail.com/public/basic.ics. Please check the URL." This seems to have happened after I had updated to the latest iPhone software earlier today.

I then decided to start over by deleting the Google calendar subscription in iCal, and then re-subscribing to the Google calendar.

But this led to another similar error message which occurred after the completing the following sequence:

1) In iCal, Subscribe was selected from the drop down menu heading "Calendar".

2) An iCal window opens up requesting the Calendar URL. The Calendar URL is provided on the Google calendar "Calendar settings" page in the section entitled "Calendar Address". The "ICAL" box is selected to get the URL. The URL pops up as a hyperlink. The text of the hyperlink is then copied (without clicking the hyperlink).

3) The URL is copied and pasted into the iCal window as requested. The URL is in the format "http://www.google.com/calendar/ical/... gmail.com/public/basic.ics".

4) Then the "Subscribe" button is clicked.

5) Then the following error message occurs:

"Error subscribing to the calendar.
No calendar was found on http://www.google.com/calendar/ical...gmail.com/public/basic.ics. Please check the URL."

I have repeated the same process above multiple times, and the same error message results every time. Could this be related to updating to the latest iPhone software? What am I missing here?

Interestingly, if the hyperlink of the URL on the Google calendar settings page is clicked, a download window opens up, and when the download icon is clicked, a new calendar is placed into iCal under the "CALENDARS" heading which is a copy of the Google calendar. The difference is that this calendar is not a "subscribed calendar" (under the Subscribed heading). I am wondering if this new calendar would refresh or sync (read only) with the Google calendar as it had done before when it was subscribed, or is it simply a one time transfer of information to create a new calendar in iCal?

Any thoughts on the above?

Thank you.

Hi

I thought the subscribe URI had to be HTTPS not HTTP?
(from step 5 on page http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=99358&topic=&useful= 1&expand_useful=1&#)

If you had not reported fixed, this would have been my guess! Btw, the reason Im reading your thread is I had the same error reporting proxy error, which has only appeared now Im at work (where they have things pretty tightly tied down) but it worked fine at home. What I cant see is where to put any proxy info into iCal... presumably it of course goes into the Network settings under System, but which one? They all work ok in other situations!

I've had a very similar problem: subscribed to a Google calendar via Calaboration when at home; now back at work with a proxy server, and as soon as I open iCal I get: Request Error - the user name or password of the proxy configuration is not correct.

I click OK, then iCal crashes. How can I reset it?

Thanks
