Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The iChat server does not place any restrictions on cross platform video.
If you search the http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=139 forum, you will see many threads that discuss compatibility between iChat Mac clients and windows clients.
Beg to differ. A search of that forum reveals nothing but problems and complicated setups. iChat may have the inherent ability ("no restrictions") to communicate with windows clients, but there is nothing easy or simple about it. I've spent the last hour trying to get my daughter set up to iChat with Yahoo Messenger. Per some of the links I tried to the PSI software option, but the PSI server I choose doesn't have Yahoo services and I'm having trouble "un-doing" that server connection, or creating a new/different one.
If there is a good Windows client that is easy to use with iChat it would be nice to know - this seems like a very good question still waiting for an answer.
Just for clarity I wanted to state iChat client is a multiprotocol IM client and the iChat server in OS X Server is an XMPP protocol Jabber server that CAN implement gateways to other IM networks like AOL which uses OSCAR protocol.
Windows Jabber/OSCAR (Google Talk/AIM)clients per your request YMMV
The iChat server does not place any restrictions on Video chat. Such facilities are a feature of a jabber client, of which iChatAV is one of many products on the market.
If you are still having problems and you are running an iChat Server under Leopard, people here will help you, but please start a new thread here is this Discussion group and detail the problems your are having.
