uploading/updating photos...

Okay, lets say I already have 3 photo albums in my iPod; album 1, album 2, and album 3. And I want to add photos to "album 2". Do I have to update all three albums again at the same time? Or can I just update album 2, and keep album 1 and 3 the same?
