CFURLErrorDomain:306

Safari and Internet Explorer refuse to open certain links on web pages, whereas FireFox does. Safari, for example returns the following when I try to log in to apple.com: Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “ https://support.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/ACAuthWeb.woa/wa/login?appIdKey=2dd bca23a85d20e5bf7478812379ae23&path=/login.jspa%3FsuccessURL%3D/index.jspa”. The error was: “unknown error” (CFURLErrorDomain:306) Please choose Report Bugs to Apple from the Help menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.
Can anyone tell me what to do to remedy this?
