How long has your app been IN REVIEW?

I must say I'm disappointed in the turnaround time between my uploading an app update and it being reviewed and posted to the iTunes app store.

I uploaded a new version of my app 4 days ago, and am still opening iTunes Connect only to see it is still "In Review"

How long have you guys had to wait to have an app reviewed and posted?

What is really frustrating is that my game had some misspellings, small stuff that I have fixed in an update, and I am getting hammered in my customer reviews over things that I have fixed already and uploaded 4 days ago!!

4 days is not long...generally you should expect it to take at least a week. Sometimes it is much quicker or much slower.

If you search this forum you will find from the large number of similar questions that reviews seem to average about a week though some have seen quicker and some have seen much longer.

Everyone wants their app updated immediately. This is, of course, understandable. At the same time some people complain about the junk apps that get approved. It can't work both ways. Apple is getting slammed with new apps and updated apps. It takes time to do even a cursory glance at each and every one to ensure it at least meets some minimum standards.

You can update your app description with some nice comment at the top about your pending new release and what fixes/changes are coming. These updates seem to show up in iTunes in less than a day. That may help a bit.

Of course the best solution is to test your app better to avoid putting out buggy versions. I know this is hard if you are like me - one person trying to get an app out. I don't do QA for a living for a reason 😉

I posted a new app two days ago. It's killing me to wait a week for it to appear but it's a fact of life right now. Someone, not living in the Internet age, said that patience is a virtue.

I submitted an update (my first :-)) on the 19th and it is still in review, guess it won't happen before Monday at the earliest now.

Regarding the user reviews, I updated my app description to include a description of the upcoming new update and the new features and problem fixes it brings, and mention that it will be released as soon as it gets reviewed. This seems to help avert criticism from users, in fact I have seen a slightly increased number of downloads, probably in anticipation of the update (I also reminded users that they will get the update for free when it comes out).

If anyone from Apple happens to be reading this, I want to give my feedback (and maybe others here may join me, or express contrasting opinions) that I think it makes sense to have a separate queue for updates and not treat updates and new submissions the same. The reason is that updates usually just add incremental features and so shouldn't take as long to test. But that's just my opinion and obviously the App Store people have a better idea of what are their resources and constraints so my opinion may not count for much.

Well Apple did reject it. It only took 17 days for the rejection letter.

I'm not surprised. It was called "I Am Poor" and all it did was display my artistic rendition of a package of Ramen, a box of Mac&Cheese, and a can of tuna fish. It was going to be the $0.99 poorman's version of "I Am Rich"

"Your application, I Am Poor, cannot be posted to the App Store at this time because it does not contain any user-accessible functionality. "

It has as much user-accessible functionality as the half-dozen flashlights. They did suggest going the AdHoc route, but AdHoc is so much work that I'd have to charge $999.99 and release it as a limited edition 😉

I have submitted 3 apps. One app took 10 days before it was rejected for reasons I don't necessarily agree with, but whatever, I re-wrote the majority of the app and resubmitted, but it's been just about another 10 days L

Second App took about 4 business days (tack on a weekend in there and it was 6) for them to notice a bug that I immediately fixed and re-submitted within hours, tick tock another 3 days and a weekend added on and still in review... I'm hoping that it will be approved today or tomorrow...

Third app got rejected in 3 days because my icons didn't match - bad instructions on their part in my opinion... anyway, I fixed the icons, and it was live 2 days later.

I think it has to do with complexity. The app that got released the quickest was, in some respects, the most basic, just using Nav controllers and tables etc... the one with the 10 days-to-reject used a lot more CG stuff and different api's etc. The one that took about 4 days for them to notice the bug, again is a pretty simple one, animating a bunch of static UI views for the most part...

Like I said, I think it depends on the complexity, if there is anything that could be "risky" about the app, and if you are using multiple api's or whatever...
