Q: PB 1400- Locked Hard Disk
Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded my PowerBook 1400cs's hard drive from a small 750MB to a 10GB. For some reason, the 10GB hard disk is locked. There is nothing on the hard drive, but when I go to install Mac OS 7.5.3 from the 1400 restore disc, it says something like, "The volume Macintosh HD is locked. Please choose another install destination." It seems like something easy to fix, but I can't figure it out. Does anyone know how to unlock the hard disk so I can get my PowerBook up and running again?
Thanks a bunch,
-Brian

Hi, have you formatted the new hard drive yet?
I pulled out my System disk V 3.0 the formatting utility is here when you boot up from the CD. Look in the Utilities folder, and double click on drive setup.
Then select the new hard drive in the list and click on initalize. If you want to partition the drive you can in this window.
