Question: Approximately how many CDs will be needed....

to back up my entire iTunes library? I have over 4,000 songs - taking up approximately 19GB of space on a 160GB iPod Classic.

You will need about 28 700MB CDs or 30 650MB CDs.

Or you could do like I do and save the songs onto a dvd. You would need 4 single layer dvd's to store all your songs. I have my entire music collection backed up onto 11 dvd's.

As stated in the post above, dvds would be a good way to backup as they hold approx 4gb per disc. 4-5 dvds should do the trick.

Another option would be to use an external hard drive to back up the entire library (including playlists).

Choose Consolidate Library from the Advanced menu in iTunes, find the iTunes library location from the iTunes preferences, and copy it to the desired backup location outside of iTunes.

Hi. I have just been reading these posts & just wondered; when you say back up to outside iTunes, does that mean I can back up to another file on my pc?
