Using Aperture to organize copyright submission
Here is my plan:
1) Export masters (some RAW some JPEG) and also export final version for those with corrections.(Thus a master and a final version in some instances) or should I move all masters and versions from the current library?
2) Break these images into three folders on system for organization and also to create a DVD presentation. (I want to create a test DVD in addition to the presentation DVD with images moved/exported and in the 3 album structure mentioned below.)
3) Submit masters and any final versions to Feds for copyrights.
4) Once copyrights are secured, import/move into new Aperture library with copyright data written to all files (master and version).
I read at one point it was more effective to write data to the Metadata files at export or import so while I believe I could write copyright information with a batch command, I thought it better to listen to the suggestion of prior to import or during export.
Where I am stuck is the use of Metadata with the images. Do I use/export EXIF or IPTC?
Also if images are exported, what Metadata I need to export? (If the decision is export instead of move).
I am unclear as to the differences between the two Metadata types though I think EXIF data would be needed for potential clients, while IPTC data may be better to file with the Fed.
I need a clearer understanding of these two Metadata types. If someone could point me in a direction for the education that would be terrific!
If there is any erroneous thinking in the above plan or if there is perhaps a more effective way to accomplish copyright files being in another library, write copyright data and make DVD's let me know.
Thanks for your time!
