Broken Face Glass - can it be replaced?

We have an old model Iphone with a broken front face - can this be replaced or is the phone junk at this point?

Apple can replace it for a fee.

There are also other repair shops that will fix it for cheap but it voids the warranty.

Just make sure to make an appointment with the Genius Bar first. This can be done online on the Apple store's page.
