up arrow command

So this goes along when you are trying to cut / paste or somehting like that. When you press the command key + C you can copy, etc. I was wondering if anyone knew how to use the command when it has an arrow pointing up and then a set of commands. For instance, while I am in Safari and I want to go back to my home page, it will have an arrow pointing up and then command + H, however when I hit the command and H it hides the window. So my question is how do I get the up arrow or what is it?
Any info would be great, thanks.

It means the Shift key. So to get Safari to go to your Home page, you press Shift-Command-H.
