Bluetooth SPP/RFCOMM on iPhone?

I'd like to send data from the iPhone to a custom Bluetooth device using the serial port profile. Is there any way to open a socket for a RFCOMM connection or an emulated serial port similar to what we do in Windows and Linux?

Thanks,
Andrew (totally new to Mac/iPhone)

Exactly, the same question that also arised at our university. We would like to the iPhone as a mobile (and very portable) terminal for parametrization of bluetooth equipped roboters and mikrokopters.
The iPhone with its acceleration sensors would further provide interesting possibilities to control robots or quadcopters over Bluetooth in Computer Science projects.
Is there any hope that the iPhone would support SPP/RFCOMM anytime in the future?
We would highly appreciate this 😉.

You must be a member of the Apple Developer Connection to post new issues. As you are speaking of developing for the iPhone, it would be best to join the iPhone Developer Program. Once your enrollment is complete (it's free) you should be able to access the Bug Reporter without trouble. There is a link on the sign-in page to use if you still can't sign in after becoming an ADC member.
