The 1st time my iphone crashed, i took it back to where i bought it from. They gave it back to Apple to see if they can repair it. 1 Week later i got a new phone. Ive had the new one for 5 days and it crashed again (silver apple hang).
I think its an application. This really *****!! I have reformatted my iPhone 2x today!! Its really frustrating!!

Yup, that looks about right. After installing 2.1 on my iPod touch, I can confirm the following:

*NO MORE ALoD!!!*

1. Apps install MUCH faster now (less than a minute, even with 70+ apps installed)
2. Apps can be deleted from the device in about 10-20 seconds
3. Natives apps open much faster, as do most third party apps
4. Most apps close more smoothly as well
5. Upgrading the iPod touch took only five minutes, and didn't delete any apps/media
6. No more keyboard lag; Japanese language conversions occur almost in real-time.

Overall, I'm REALLY impressed by 2.1 - it's what 2.0 should've been to begin with.

This problem must be addressed promptly. I can no longer tolerate it. I have to restore my iphone at lease once every two days. and being a student this is very troublesome. i use the iProcrastinate app for my homework and other school-related tasks, and when i have to restore all of that data is gone because it says all of my back-up files are corrupt. I have had to restore my iPhone twice today. this is my only complaint about iPhone, but its a huge problem. my iphone crashed and i had to restore and because of that i had no way to be reached by my place of employment and may not have a job much longer (granted i was quitting soon anyway so it doesnt matter in this instance, but i could see that being a much biger problem elsewhere!) Please Solve this problem asap apple, it is making many lives incredibly stressful and difficult.

Odd, it has fixed both my iPod touch and my iPhone 3G. Even with 80+ apps installed, new ones install/upgrade in less than a minute (by wifi, 3G, and iTunes) and the activity indicator only spins for 5-10 seconds after the install completes. Rebooting is much faster, and both devices have survived NUMEROUS app installs, deletes and upgrades.

I'd suggest restoring if you're still having problems. In fact, I didn't actually upgrade my iPhone to 2.1 - I restored to 2.1, and then set it up as a new phone. YMMV of course, but better safe than sorry, IMO. 😉
