OsX 10.5.4

I have a pro mac with 10.5.4 I also have an e-mac that I would like to install the osx 10.5.4 on- I used the OSX 10.5.4 system disc but it will not work. The e-mac has 10.3.9 on it? Am I doing something wrong, is the opperating system tied to each type of machine?I need help. I am not the sharpest pencil in the drawer when it comes to computers.
thanks

Welcome to Apple Discussions!

If a Mac model name is on your 10.5.4 disc, it won't work on any other machine than it shipped with. If your 10.5.4 disc looks like User uploaded file* and does not say Upgrade, Update, or DropIn on it, it should work on any 1 Ghz or faster eMac. To check your eMac's speed, go to Apple menu -> About This Mac.

Note if you only have less than 512 MB of RAM, it will also prevent you from installing 10.5.4. Make sure your eMac has 9 GB + 15% of the hard disk free (an arbitrary number that affects Mac OS X performance) or more. Let us know if you need to figure out how big your hard disk is, or how much that would be for a certain hard disk?

I understand that I can purchase a new Leopard disc but it is the idea that I purchased one and it did not work out of the box and Apple sent me a replacement that will only work on the Mac Pro machine. O well I guess I will have to think it it over. Do I want to donate any more money to APPLE. Thanks a lot for your help. I do appreciate it very much.

The disc I have came from apple! The new system disc I purchased did not work so after a lot of phone time they sent me a disc that is marked not for resale. The installation worked on my MAC Pro but It will not install on the e-mac. I think I am screwed?

Repeating yourself does not make anyone understand your post better.

The question is HOW MANY LICENSES DID YOU PURCHASE? <Excuse my shouting>
The disks and OS are essentially free, it's the License that you are paying for.
It that so difficult to understand?
