Target Mode with ibook G3 and macbook CD

So I am trying to boot my ibook G3 laptop into target mode to put files on my macbook CD. The ibook seems to boot just fine into target mode, I get the firewire icon on the screen and it bounces around like I was told it should. However after 5 mins, I still do not see the hard drive become available on my macbook. I checked, the firewire port on my macbook is fully functional (it works just fine with my external hard drive).

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Put your iBook in Target disk mode. Then shut down your macbook. Start up your macbook again and wait a little bit and it should come up.

I had the same problem with my iBook and iMac, it ended up if I restarted my iMac enough times, jiggled the firewire cable (which by the way, the first 2 I bought never worked - but on my 3rd one, it worked fine)

So I hoped that helps.
