Maps show wrong location with decimal coordinates

If you bring up "-38.13638 176.25718" in the maps application it shows the wrong location (it shows a point near Africa, instead of New Zealand where it should be).

This is happening to me, too. It has been doing this for a week or 2. At first, I thought that I was giving the map program the wrong coordinates, but recently I realized that no matter what coordinates I put in, the map always takes me to a point in the ocean southwest of Africa. The map program has just stopped being able to read latitude and longitude coordinates correctly. I hope they can fix this soon!

cannot address map coordinates... but after loading R2.0.2 two days ago and my first need (attempt) to do a Google Search using GPS, it failed miserably. I was using my home wi-fi which was even surprisingly off by a house away from mine (never happened on R2.0 or 2.0.!... but my search for a local restaurant came up with a "No Results Found"... so after three more failed attempts to search for this restaurant on 3G and EDGE, I plugged the actual address in which I pulled from a Google Search thru SAFARI and I ended up on the other coast of FL, 3.5 hours away. Despite my many attempts to "restore" and then going thru APPLE CARE support... the results were duplicated with identical failures. After zero to no issues with my new 3G (July 25 purchase), two Releases later I seem to have fallen victim with others finally...

I am experiencing the same problem. My maps coordinates also take me off the coast of Ghana Africa. But if you zoom out -- ALL the way out, there actually is a red position marker/thumbtack at your actual location. Zoom in on that, and BAM, it's dead on.

So really for some reason, maps is not automatically centering on the coordinate, though it is putting a dot there.

Bizarre.

On my mac, I can set safari debugging on and user agent to iPhone, then the map DOES center in on the coordinate, using the same exact input string given to apple maps. So it does not appear to be a google problem, seems to be apple maps application problem.

APPLE, PLEASE FIX, this one should be easy.
thanks
