Save a project in iMovie

Save a project in iMovie

Hello, I imported my video data to the media part of iMovie. The data is still visible after closing/re-opening iMovie.
Now I wanted to create a project with some of my media data. I created the project, moved the data to the project. As I could not find a save-button, I assumed that the project is saved automatically. But when I close and re-open iMovie, the project is not visible anymore. Also in the iMovie project folder on my disc there is no project. How can I create - and keep a project?

Did you use the 'New Project' option from the File menu to create your new project?
If you did it should have appeared in the upper left part of the iMovie window.
There is no option to save a project it is automatically saved when you exit iMovie.
When you repoen iMovie is the project not listed in the upper left of the iMovie window?
If it is then just click on it and you will see the project.

Yes, I created a new project. Then I moved a data package to the project. After this I closed iMovie. Then I re-opened iMovie - and the project is not existing anymore. Only the "My first project" is always visible, but empty. Even if I place data to the "My first project", it will be empty again after re-opening.

I have the exact same issue. I'll create a new project, drag some media in, quit Movie, and when I reopen it that project is no longer listed. It's also not in the "iMovie Projects" folder. I'm sure this is somehow simple to fix but I'm stumped. For what it's worth, I've logged a lot of time in FCP and the iLife iMovie '06, as well as Logic, Flash and even Director... I know how to use a computer. But my projects are not being saved!

Yes, in fact I tried a couple of things (but neither worked): I selected the "My First Project" text from the Project Library and typed in a new name (which promptly disappeared after I finished typing); next, I tried creating a new project (this prompted me for a project name, which I entered, and which then appeared in the Project Library). When I close iMovie and re-start, only "My First Project" appears in the Project Library. I'm also noticing that iMovie doesn't really work right either... for example, I can't put a title at the beginning of the movie, I can only put one on top of video footage. I have repaired permissions, but still get the same behavior. Can you help? Thanks!

Maybe there's some corruption in your iMovie preferences. Have you tried recreating in a new user to see if there is something going on system wide versus user specific?
-If you've isolated to user specific then your talking about removing some iMovie Preference files.
