Question

Joining a H264 video file and a separate 5.1 Audio Track

Hello does anyone know a program that can do the above - I want to play it back on Apple TV so that my amplifier sees the audio as 5.1 , Both files are .mp4.

I'm using dvd files (m2v, AC3). Is there a program that will allow a passthrough of the 5.1 from video while converting. All the ones I have come accross always downconvert to 2ch stereo. I'd use QT Pro but you can't open elemental streams together nor can you open AC3 in QT Pro.

You can open AC3 files with Quicktime with the correct plug-ins.

We are unable to discuss the promotion of copying copyright DVD's or circumventing DRM on these forums, sorry.

Who said anything about copyrighted material. I am a video producer and author dvd's with surround sound at times. In an effort to quickly make H264 and Mpeg4 files I use elemental streams from my authoring dvd's rather than reconstructing video projects in Avid or Final Cut Pro.

So I'll ask the question again...

Put another way, the only software I know that will handle AC3 on a mac will also decrypt encrypted DVD's and so its mention is suspect, however as you intend to re-encode your own DVD's you might want to try handbrake.
