Custom Ringtones no longer working?

I recently installed 2.02 and just replaced my 8GB iPhone with a 16GB phone. Strangely, my old custom ringtones are on my new phone, but I am not able to add new ones. I am running ITunes 7.7 and am creating a custom MP3, I add it to Itunes then convert to AAC. I go to the folder that the m4a file is located, rename to m4r and sync. Did Apple stop custom ringtones in 2.02?

still works for me i use http://www.audiko.net/ however to make custom reingtones

Well since this post is burning up the Internet, I can say now that I got my custom ringtones issues resolved by selecting Manually Manage option. Custom ringtones work great now.

regarding the ringtones, i was able to set custom ringtones myself, but ever since i did that i get errors when synching my phone in the form that some app's dont work, have any of you had this problem?
