Does MacBook Pro support Fully Buffered ECC Memory

Hi, All,

The spec for the MacPro ( http://www.apple.com/macpro/technology/processor.html)
states that it supports "smarter memory". I have included the info below. Does the MacBook Pro support the same memory type? And if so is that why the 4GB upgrade is $184? I have found 4GB memory upgrades from Crucial, Kingston, etc. that range from $85 - $140, and although they are compatible will they be as fast as the memory that comes with the machine?

Thanks in advance.

The Mac Pro incorporates a 256-bit-wide, fully buffered memory architecture with Error Correction Code (ECC), which corrects single-bit errors and detects multiple-bit errors automatically. These features are especially important in mission-critical or compute-intensive environments. Apple designed a more stringent thermal specification for the Mac Pro FB-DIMMs, so the internal fans spin at slower speeds and keep the system quiet.

Hi The_Thinker,

FB-DIMM-Memory is for MacPro and XServe machines only.

The chipset used in any other kind of Intel-Macs do not support FB-DIMMs.
Besides the physical size of FB-DIMMs does not fit into them.

Regards
